Platform

AI & Data Mining Platform

An open cross-border web platform designed to improve access to structured knowledge about plant biodiversity, Medicinal and Aromatic Plants and related scientific resources.

Purpose

Scientific data made easier to discover and use.

The platform connects biodiversity knowledge, plant properties, scientific datasets and AI-assisted analysis in one web environment.

It is designed for different levels of interaction: public visitors can explore accessible information, while researchers and authorised users can work with richer datasets, analytical services and research workflows.

Structured knowledge base

Organised information about plant species, sources, properties and scientific references.

Programmatic access

API services that allow approved systems and researchers to request data.

AI-assisted research

Data-mining workflows that digest, analyse and reason over scientific corpora.

Core functions

One platform, multiple research pathways.

The final implementation can evolve progressively as validated datasets, services and workflows become available.

Search & discovery

Explore plants, compounds, properties, sources, studies and linked knowledge.

Data catalogue

Browse structured datasets with metadata, provenance and access information.

API access

Request selected information programmatically and support interoperability.

Research assistant

Use AI-supported workflows for literature, data exploration and evidence synthesis.

Data lifecycle

From heterogeneous sources to research-ready knowledge.

Quality, traceability and clear access rules are integrated into the platform workflow.

01

Ingest

Collect datasets, documents, inventories and validated external knowledge.

02

Clean & transform

Standardise formats, remove duplicates, map terms and preserve provenance.

03

Analyse

Run search, data mining, machine learning and AI-supported research workflows.

04

Publish & reuse

Provide results through the web interface, APIs and documented downloadable resources.

User groups

Different interfaces for different needs.

The platform should remain useful to the general public without oversimplifying the needs of specialist users. Role-based access can support public information, registered research functions and administrative data management.

Public visitor

Accessible plant and project information, visual summaries, news and educational resources.

Researcher

Advanced search, datasets, references, analytical workflows and export options.

Data contributor

Controlled submission, metadata validation and data quality processes.

Administrator

User management, taxonomies, audit trails, content review and system monitoring.
